"Thy Faith Hath Made Thee Whole"

Materials: Scriptures, picture of woman touching Jesus's robe, videos, ingredients for tempest bottle activity (optional), coloring sheets
Opening Song: "How Firm A Foundation" verse 3 (Hymnal, 85)
Opening Prayer:
Scripture: Mark 5:34 "And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague."

Attention Activity: Have a member of  your family stand up with you. Tell them to hold out there arms to the sides and fall straight backwards and you will catch them (trust fall). Let each member of your family take a turn falling into another family members arms. Was it scary when you were falling? Did you trust me to catch you? Why? When we trust someone, we have faith them. When we put our faith in Jesus, we trust in Him. This means that we believe that he atoned for us and he can help us.

Lesson:
This week we will be learning about a lot of different people the Savior healed and helped. We will be reading about his miracles. All of the people that Jesus healed had faith in him.  They trusted that he could help them.

 Show "Calming the Tempest" video:

Why were the disciples afraid? What did the Savior do to help them? What did Jesus say to his disciples? Read Mark 4: 39-40 Jesus told his disciples they needed to have more faith.

We all have times in our lives when we feel afraid or discouraged. Sometimes we might even feel as though Christ could be doing more to help us. The amazing thing is he is always there for us. All we have to do is ask for his help. When we ask Jesus for help, he will send the Holy Ghost to comfort us and he will help us through any "storm" we have in our lives. We needn't fear because he is always near.

When we are afraid or when bad things happen to us how can we show faith in Jesus Christ?

Sometimes bad things happen to us. Sometimes we get afraid; we feel sad; we get sick. When Jesus was walking through the street one day, he passed a lady that was very sick. She had been ill for a long time with "an issue of blood." As Jesus passed her, she reached out and touched his clothes. She had knew that if she were to just touch the Savior she could be healed. Christ stopped and asked who had touched him. When she told Him what happened, he replied, "Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace and be whole of thy plague." (Mark 5: 34) The woman had so much faith in Christ, she was able to be healed by just touching the Savior's clothes.

When we have faith in Jesus Christ, when we put our trust in Him, he can heal us, help us, and bring us peace. He can calm the storms of our lives and heal our souls. As we study the scriptures this week lets ask ourselves: how is this person showing faith in Christ?
